Tenaya Lodge — Yosemite National Park

Tenaya Lodge is a hotel that is just outside Yosemite National park.  Tenya Lodge has regular hotel rooms, and they also have cottages in a different location next to the hotel.  The cottages have three apartments in each building.  The cottages are a little bit more expensive then the regular hotel rooms.  Tenaya Lodge has two restaurants in the main hotel.  The first one is called Jackalopes – it’s a place that sells burgers and fish and chips.  They also have a restaurant called Embers, but it is really expensive from food that cost ten dollars to food that cost forty-two dollars.  They have three pools and one splash pad.  One of the pools is in the cottage area so only people who stay at the cottages can swim there.  The pool at the cottage area is smaller than the others and the walk over to the hotel is worth it.  The outdoor pool they have is connected to the splash pad.  The pool is outside and has many toys like foam balls and noodles.  The splash pad has sprinklers and water shooters.  The splash pad is more for little kids than older kids.  The indoor pool has toys like footballs and frisbees.  There are also three hot tubs – one in the outdoor pool and two in the indoor pool.  If you don’t mind paying a little bit more than you should really try to stay in the cottage area, but the hotel rooms are good too.  So, if you are in the area then you really should try to stay there.

Tenaya Lodge is a hotel that is just outside Yosemite National Park. Tenaya Lodge has a lot of rooms for guests, but there are different rooms you can stay in. One is a house that is cut into three.  That has the most room, and that is what we stayed in.  It was really nice.  Also there they have 2 restaurants.   One is for adults and one for families; the food at the family restaurant has pretty good food, so I would eat there because there are not a lot of restaurants in the area.  Also if you go in the summer or winter they have a pool  – one indoor and one outdoors.  There are hot tubs indoors and outdoors too.  If you stay near the cottages then they have a restaurant there.  It is a pizzeria.  Tenaya Lodge is definitely worth the stay.

Tenaya Lodge has a ton of cottages.  Every cottage has three rooms in it.  The rooms are have a separate bedroom and bathroom from a living room.  In the cottages, one room is on the second floor up high.  The rooms are nice and big.  The rooms are clean and have a fireplace.  They have a pool outdoors and indoors.  The outdoor pool is a zero entry pool.  If babies go in the pool they can stand in the zero entry water.  The pool is nice because they have toys in it to play with.  There is also music playing for you to listen to while you swim.  The indoor pool has two hot tubs with it.  One is for adults and one is for everybody.  We even snuck into the adult hot tub – no one else was in it.  They have pool toys inside too.  There are noodles and footballs.  It is a good place, and I would stay there again.

The Cut Throat Saloon — Incline Village, Nevada

The Cut Throat Saloon is in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Nevada.  It is right next door to the casino.  They have appetizers / soups / salads / entrees / sandwiches / and pizzas.  There appetizers include Grilled Portobello Mushrooms with asparagus, sautéed mushrooms, served on roasted tomato coulis; Tahoe Spuds with Cajun chicken and bacon, topped with cheddar and pepper jack cheese, served with sour cream; Loaded Sierra Nachos; or Roasted Crab and Spinach Dip with Flatbread.  Their soups / salads include Western Chili, Grilled Chicken Caesar or Saloon Salad, with crisp greens, black forest ham, smoked turkey, bacon, eggs, cheddar, provolone, Swiss cheese, tomato-cucumber relish.  Entrees / sandwiches  including Prime Rib Sandwich, Fish and Chips, Grilled Chicken Panini with boursin cheese, caramelized onions on ciabatta bread, Steak and Fries or Barbecue Grilled Salmon.  Their pizzas are the Caprese Pizza, Barbecue Chicken Pizza, Three-topping Cheese Pizza.  Their prices range from $7.00-$30.00.  They are famous for their dollar bill walls and ceiling.  People come and pin-up a dollar bill on the wall and when the walls are packed they take the dollars down and give the dollars to charity.  The Cut Throat Saloon is one of my favorite places to eat at lake Tahoe.  I recommend going and eating and also putting up a dollar bill on the wall.

The Cut Throat Saloon is a restaurant inside the Hyatt Casino.  It is open to the public, and it allows kids too. When they have the blackjack tournament the appetizers are on sale for half price – which is every Wednesday.  We did not eat a full meal there, but we got appetizers.  The things we got were the nachos, the pizza, and potato slices.  First, my favorite – the nachos –  they had jalapeno, cheese, pulled pork, and chips which was really good.  My second favorite was the potato slices.  They had chesse and bacon.  The pizza was my least favorite because the pizza had no flavor other than the pepperoni, so I would not get it again.  That is what I thought of the Cut Throat Saloon.

 

 

Boudin’s Bakery — San Francisco, California

Boudin’s Bakery is known for their making of sourdough bread.  They’re near dock 39 of San Fransisco. It is a two-story building with the restaurant on top and an “On The Go” restaurant on the bottom.  They also have a coffee shop on the first floor area.  They’re known for making sourdough bread.  If you’re waiting for your reservation you can go through their museum and see how the restaurant was started.  As you go through the museum, you can see the factory they have right next door to the restaurant.  The factory is connected to the bottom resturant and the coffee shop.   An other thing they’re known for is their clam chowder bowls  made of sourdough.  They cut the top off of the original sourdough ball.  Then they fill it up with fresh clam chowder that they make there. Their food there is great and it is at a reasonably good price.  I recommend that if you’re in San Fransisco that you should try to make it to the restaurant.

Barnett — 7

Boudin’s is a bakery, a museum, and a restaurant.  The bakery is where they make their bread for all of the food in the restaurant.  They can even bake the bread into animal shapes — turtles, bears, and even an alligator.  Some of the animal shapes are very big.  On the second floor is a museum.  You can look from the museum into them making the bread.  You can try a free slice of bread in the museum, and you will love it!  I learned that sourdough bread has a momma dough.  It is the secret ingredient to their bread.  The restaurant has many things to order but we got we got a clam chowder bread bowl.  It is a loaf of bread shaped like a bowl with soup in it.  It was good, and I ate all of mine.  I like it and you would too.

Red Hut Cafe

The Red Hut Cafe is one of my favorite breakfast places I’ve eaten at. They have really good omelets. They are known for their waffles. I had the cheese and bacon omelet. I thought that they would give me just bits of cut up bacon, but instead they gave me four or five strips of bacon whole. They give hash browns and toast with each omelet. They have six locations around Lake Tahoe, Nevada.  Some are up to fifty years old, and some are also brand new.  The one that we went to has a great view of the lake and the mountains around the lake. It is really hard to get into, and they don’t take reservations. They are only open until two o’clock  (they open at 8:00). The atmosphere is friendly and nice.  The Red Hut Cafe has good food and is definitely worth going to if you are near Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Hadley – 10

Lake Tahoe has good places to eat, but one of the best is the Red Hut Cafe.  When I went to the Red Hut Cafe.  I had something strange – a bacon waffle.  The bacon waffle may sound gross, but it is really good.  It has pieces of bacon inside the waffle.  If you don’t like bacon – this is not the waffle for you!  You can have it with or without whipped cream.  I tried the biscuits and gravy.  They were good, but the gravy had a lot of pepper in it.  I also tried their bacon and cheese omelet.  It was really good too.   They have a lot of variety of waffles.  There are two really old slot machines in the restaurant.  They don’t work.  It is an older restaurant, but they ere are more located around Lake Tahoe.    The one we went to is one of the older ones they have.  It is small and not fancy.  You do not have to dress up.  You want to come, and you may need to wait.  It is worth waiting for.  It is good for breakfast, and it is worth your money.

The Red Hut Cafe is good.  I had a Mickey Mouse pancake.  It is a Red Hut Cafe tradition!  It was shaped of a Mickey Mouse head.  Blackberries were the eyes, a strawberry was the mouth, and a scoop of butter was its nose.  It was good.  I also tried the bacon waffle.  I like bacon and waffles – so it was good.  I tried the biscuits and gravy.  They were too spicy because of the pepper.  I ate some of my Dad’s hash browns.  They were so good, I had to get a second helping!  The bacon waffle was the best of everything I tried.  There was tobacco sauce on every table.  It was packed.  There were a ton of people there because it is good.  I would go there again and get my own bacon waffle.
